Types of Student Visas in the UK

Short-Term Student Visa

If you are planning to study in the UK for a short period of time or a short course, you can definitely apply for a short-term study visa. This visa is meant to allow you to study in the UK for like 6 months. Moreover, If you are studying an English language course, you can have an extended time period like 11 months. Valid Offer Letter

It should be solidified when you receive the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). English Language Proficiency

If you are planning to study an undergraduate course, the English language proficiency should be at least level B2 CERF which is equal to an IELTS score of 5.5. A minimum score of CEFR level B1 or IELTS 4.0 is required for postgraduate courses. And lastly, you have to pass and acquire an official certificate of the Secure English Language Test (SELT) for a below-degree level education.  


Tuberculosis Test Results

You have to undergo a medical test for tuberculosis if you are intending on staying in the UK for more than 6 months. You will have to acquire a certificate for the negative results of tuberculosis that is valid for 6 months from the date of the examination. 


Immigration Healthcare Surcharge (IHS)

You have to pay Immigration Healthcare Surcharge and the amount can be varied upon your stay in the country. But, you still have to pay for additional treatments for dental, prescriptions, assisted conception, eye tests, and treatments.
