TEST PREPARATIONS

If you wish to continue your education after high school in a foreign country, you will need to take certain exams to open doors. If you want to apply for a master's degree abroad, there are primarily four admission exams you will need to take. The GMAT and GRE are general aptitude tests, whereas the IELTS and TOEFL are specific to determining whether or not you have the English competence necessary to enroll in an international university.

  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

The Graduate Record Examination, commonly known as the GRE, is a compulsory achievement test used to get admission into graduate programs in fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business, among others. The test can be prepared to be taken on the computer or it can be printed out and taken by hand. There are four major parts of the Graduate Record Examination: Verbal Reasoning (VR), Quantitative Reasoning (QR), Analytical Writing (AW), and the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). Each section of the GRE has a time limit that one must complete prior to proceeding on to the next section. The full exam lasts for 3 hours. In many countries, including Canada and the United States, a high score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required to enter graduate school.

  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The Graduate Management Admission Test is simply known as the GMAT. This is a computer-based test comprising four components: Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Reasoning. In addition, the duration for taking the GMAT test is 3.5 hours, and each section is strictly timed. These test scores serve as a criterion for admission to some of the world's best B-schools. More than 1200 business schools in the world necessitate the Graduate Management Admissions Test, popularly known as the GMAT exam, for admission to its MBA and other management and business graduate degree programs. Another added advantage of the GMAT score is that it is recognized for a period of five years.

  • IELTS

The IELTS, International English Language Testing System, is another standardized test used by many institutions as an admission requirement into their respective programs in the English language. Additionally, it is one of the criteria that is considered when deciding whether or not to admit candidates to various master's degree programs in nations such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, amongst others. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an exam that is given in conjunction with the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL).
