The Impact of covid -19 on Study Abroad

Studying abroad is a dream for many people in India due to the fact that it opens up endless opportunities for their careers in the future. Exploring the cultures of another country is always exciting which helps to broaden the horizon of one’s thoughts. Besides people with higher education from established countries and renowned institutions are always in high demand. The process of applying for international institutions is not that simple and there are plenty of Overseas education consultants in kochi willing to guide with the application process. Choosing an experienced consultancy is of prime importance as you will be having plenty of queries during the whole process and proper guidance is crucial.

The current Pandemic caused by the widespread Covid-19 virus has drastically reduced the outflow of students from India. Many applicants have either postponed their plans or are stuck in the process due to various travel restrictions in and out of the country. India, being one of the countries with the highest growth in covid cases in the recent months, has seen travel restrictions being imposed from almost all countries. The second wave of the pandemic has been relentless and India currently stands second in the world in terms of active cases. The government is doing all it can to contain the spread and flatten the curve. Many foreign countries have lent a helping hand financially and with other medical requirements.

However, because of the sudden rise, International flights have been banned completely in many major countries which attract students to study abroad.

New Zealand, United Kingdom, and Australia have stopped all applications until further notice. Canada has temporarily closed its borders but has not ceased accepting visa applications. The United States of America has revised its immigration laws according to the Biden Proclamation passed on the 30th of April 2021 which prevents entry to persons departing from restricted countries, including India. People can however enter the country once they spend 14 days in an unrestricted country. New F-1 Visa applications are currently suspended in India but students who already possess an F-1 Visa can travel following the Biden Proclamation rules. Schengen countries have also stopped accepting applications temporarily.

All in all, the current situation prevents students from travelling abroad to study.

Many international institutions have provided a relaxation in the deadlines to apply for courses and also postpone travel until the travel bans lift. They have introduced online classes instead for the time being for many students who have already finished their visa application and university applications process. With the invention of effective vaccinations across the globe and their organized administration, the pandemic is hoped to be contained at the earliest.

The travel rules and regulations are being revised almost every other week and many aspiring students are waiting for their chance to fulfill their once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeking higher education abroad.
